FIT exists to ensure playing fields are well managed in addition to being well protected. Many local sports fields and recreational sites are managed by groups, individuals or local councils. While they have the dedication needed to run playing fields, we have more than 80 years' experience of managing fields to make sure they are used to their full potential.
FIT is in an ideal position to advise groups and suggest effective management structures. Our advice covers everything from pitch hire agreements to leases, covenants, licences for access gates and the use of charitable land for car boot sales.
We can advise on all fields we protect as well as providing useful information on how to improve fields and adding new facilities. In addition to our services and sources of information, we've established strong links with a number of external organisations that could be of benefit. These include funding bodies that could help provide some of the money needed to improve fields.
Many of the fields we protect have charitable status and, as such, have certain legislation attached. We're the foremost independent authority on the charitable nature of playing fields and how fields can benefit from that status. We can provide legal advice with regard to the issues relating to the charitable status of fields and many other issues which affect playing fields and their users.
