County Playing Fields Associations (CPFAs) support the work of FIT as well as providing additional services such as field management, planning, grants and loans and active support for local projects. CPFAs exist in most counties across England but they focus mainly on rural areas, working with town and parish councils and other local groups to ensure communities have access to a full range of recreation activities and services.
CPFAs work in partnership with a number of national groups including Play England, RoSPA, The Sport and Play Construction Association (SAPCA), The Institution of Groundsmen (IOG) and the Register of Playground Inspectors International (RPII). In 2006, The Big Lottery Fund approved a join bid with FIT to improve the capacity of their service.
