King George V Fields
These are playing fields set up in memory of King George V as "a philanthropic scheme of specific character which would benefit the whole country and be associated with King George's name."
The memorial scheme initially funded 471 playing fields across the UK. FIT played a key role in promoting these fields since their creation and, since 1965, has been solely responsible for their protection. In the last year the Charity Commission has decided that some of the King George's Fields were incorrectly registered as charities, these have now been removed from the Register. For a full explanation of the reasons behind this decision go to the Charity_Commission_website.
