Q. Our field is covered in dog faeces. How do we stop people walking their dogs on the field?
A. The problem isn’t really with dog walking on the field it is their owners cleaning up after them. This is an educational problem – people with dogs need to realise that they have a duty to clean up. You can make byelaws and use other legislation but unless someone upholds those laws they won’t be effective. Start by working with the local schools on signs will get the message through to the children and their parents.
Q. How far should a skateboard facility be from neighbouring properties?
A. The FIT’s recommendation in “The Six Acre Standard” is that NEAP’s (Neighbourhood Equipped Areas for Play) which could include such a facility should be a minimum of 30m from the boundary of a residential property.
